20 foreign resident spots available in Shimanami Kaido’s biggest cycling event until August 31

On October 30, 7,000 riders from all around the world will participate within the Cycling Shimanami 2022 bike event when the Shimanami Kaido’s biggest cycling event returns for the primary time in 4 years. General entry is closed, but 20 places on the signature 70km Onomichi to Imabari course have been made available for foreign residents of Japan.

The Shimanami Kaido is Japan’s most famous cycle destination. CNN included the route, known for its impressive bridges that allow cyclists to island-hop across the Inland Sea to Shikoku, in its list of the world’s top bike rides, commenting on its scenic beauty and suitability for cyclists of all abilities.

Hiroshima prefectural government is working with JTB to supply 20 foreign residents with a memorable option to tick the Shimanami Kaido off their Japan bucket lists.

You’ll be able to pick from a one-night or two-night stay on the Latest Castle Hotel in Fukuyama, a brief walk from Fukuyama Station and the town’s castle which reopens at the tip of August after extensive renovations. In addition to guaranteed entry into the favored Onomichi to Imabari 70km course, the package includes transport to and from the beginning and finish. Transportation for your individual bike could be arranged and cross-bikes and e-bikes could be rentals to make use of within the event when you prefer to travel light.

Those concerned about how the COVID situation may develop, can rest assured that cancellations could be made freed from charge until the tip of September.

Just a little little bit of secret info, so keep this under your hats… If you could have any Japanese friends who would love to affix, there’s a provision within the small print for one Japanese national per international resident to also join a gaggle booking. Could possibly be a pleasant option to help out a friend who didn’t make it through the final entry lottery.
