Eat 60 brands of eggs and a ton of rice at Tokyo’s egg festival

Three years ago, the Tamagokake Gohan Festival was held in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro Ward, and now it’s back, larger than ever, and with a brand new title: Egg Fes in Ikebukuro 2022.

While “Tamagokake Gohan” has been dropped from the title, the event is certain to draw lovers of the dish, commonly often known as “TKG”, which consists of a raw egg cracked on rice and mixed through with a little bit of soy sauce.

It costs just 500 yen to enter, and when you’re in, you may eat as most of the 60 brands of eggs, sourced from all around the country, and as much of the one-ton of rice that’s on offer.

And since the organizers are assuming visitors will eat their eggs with rice, within the kind of TKG, there’ll be a big variety of soy sauce to select from as well.

Visitors preferring their eggs in sweets shall be blissful to know their needs shall be catered for, with some very tasty offerings, including a few “mystery drinks”.

The event shall be held at Sunshine City World Import Mart Constructing 4F Hall A-1 from Oct 21-23. Admission to the venue is free, although visitors who pay 500 yen will give you the chance to benefit from the all-you-can-eat offer. Children under elementary school age with a paying adult eat at no cost.

There are five sessions, each with a capability of 250 people, on day by day of the event, held at the next times:

・11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

・1:15 p.m.-3:15 p.m.

・3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

・5:45 p.m.-7:45 p.m.
